How to become a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson
Becoming a licensed NZ real estate salesperson is a career choice that could lead you into a position as a Salesperson working for a real estate company in New Zealand.
If you wish to become a licensed Real Estate Salesperson you will need to enrol in an approved course like that offered by Open Polytechnic called New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) (Level 4).
The New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) (level 4) is offered as a correspondence / long distance course, which works well if you are currently employed, as you can study around your job. Once completed, you can then apply (if you meet the criteria) to become licensed through the New Zealand Real Estate Authority (REA).
Some Real Estate Agents may employ you for training or to work in other areas (such as property management) while studying toward your salesperson qualification. Once you are licensed, you may also be employed as a contractor and you will need to set up your own business structure such as a sole trader or company.
How to set a up a company is another topic for discussion.
